It started with a realization: Getting k8s setup is unbelievably complicated. I spent so much time getting the cluster up and running. It required specialized know-how and expensive hardware just to run the control plane.

My fallback had always been Docker Swarm. It was rock-solid and simple. But I wondered: Could I give Swarm the superpowers of Kubernetes without the bloat?

‍I started building. I called it "Nebula-izing" the platform. The first breakthrough was custom label-based autoscaling. When it worked—when I saw the swarm expand and contract on its own—I asked myself, "How hasn't this been done until now?"
